A telecom debut platform that connects newcomers to Canada before they land

Kini Mobile is a Canadian telecommunications brand offering prepaid mobile services on the TELUS network. Built for international students, new immigrants, and long-term residents, it provides a flexible, no-contract alternative to traditional carriers — designed for people who need to stay connected with home without juggling multiple devices or complicated roaming plans. We were asked to build Kini Mobile's debut web platform.

The problem archetype

For newcomers, getting a Canadian phone plan is often one of the first logistical hurdles after arrival — and sometimes before. Traditional carriers require contracts, in-store visits, and local payment methods that aren't always accessible from abroad. Kini Mobile needed to remove those barriers and deliver a self-service experience that worked across borders.

Our execution

We designed and built a responsive digital storefront on Next.js with Drupal 10. The platform handles complex cross-border onboarding, from pre-arrival eSIM activation to localized payment management, giving users an end-to-end self-service portal that works on any device.

The outcome

The site successfully supported Kini Mobile's official nationwide launch on the TELUS network, providing international students and newcomers with a complete digital onboarding path. It laid the foundation for rapid expansion across Canada.

What this means for your project

When your users are spread across countries and time zones, your platform has to work harder than a local storefront. We build digital experiences that simplify cross-border onboarding and turn complexity into a competitive advantage.
